With the 2024/23 NFL regular season now firmly set to get underway, fans are already placing their predictions in motion for who they believe will be among the league’s elite Quarterback names to help lead their team towards Superbowl stardom, and lay claim to the title as the league’s most established star QB.
Last season, fans were treated to a plethora of highlights featuring their favorite and renowned QB’s with Aaron Rodgers taking home his fourth regular season MVP award, ranking second on the all-time MVP listings only behind the legendary Peyton Manning (5).
Tom Brady once again defined the boundaries of age with another spectacular season, whilst Joe Burrow and Matthew Stafford collided at this year’s Superbowl in LA, with Stafford playing a pivotal role in the Rams winning their second world championship.
Other notable names such as Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert all lived up to their potential, which has left many to ponder on which of these names could be named as the league’s most elite QB heading into the 2024/23 season.
Aaron Rodgers – Green Bay Packers:
As previously stated, Aaron Rodgers made history by claiming his fourth regular season MVP following on from a tremendous 2024/22 regular season where he helped the Packers claim the NFC North Division once again with an outstanding record of 13-4, earning the Packers a number one seed in the NFC.
However, despite the hype surrounding the Packers remaining as a firm Superbowl contender, they were shockingly beaten in the Divisional round by the San Francisco 49ers with Rodgers’ future in Green Bay being solely left up for debate.
After penning a new three-year $150 million contract, Rodgers will now be the highest paid QB heading into the new season and is looking to earn a first trip back to the Superbowl since his Superbowl XLV victory way back in 2010, which remains the only championship of his decorated career.
Rodgers has often received heavy criticism surrounding his prior post-season performances, meaning that if he wants to remain as the arguably the league’s best QB, he will have to earn another championship ring which is still very much likely to happen this season.
Patrick Mahomes – Kansas City Chiefs:
The always raucous Arrowhead Stadium has been treated to some great success in the Patrick Mahomes era that culminated in a victory at Superbowl LIV, with Mahomes taking home the game’s MVP award and the regular season award in 2018.
At just 26 years of age, Mahomes has already carved out a Hall of Fame worthy career and is still very much likely to win even more championships if his current performances on the field remains just as active.
In the latest NFL odds available on Betway, the Chiefs are among the heavily touted favorites to win their second Superbowl in just four years at 10/1 outright odds, with Mahomes being the centerpiece of their offence.
Josh Allen – Buffalo Bills:
Since being Drafted into the league back in 2018, Josh Allen’s stock and attention regarding his potential to win the MVP award this year has been further increased given the backing that most NFL executives have sighted in his style of play.
Allen had an excellent 2024/22 season where he recorded a total of 4,407 yards, scoring 36 touchdowns with only 15 of his passes being picked off by the opposition defense.
In the post-season, Allen’s Bills narrowly fell in an overtime thriller against Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs with Allen playing a spectacular game.
Heading into the impending season, Allen and the Bills are already sighted as being the quintessential favorites to win the Superbowl this year and their opening week matchup against the reigning champions LA Rams is sure to be unmissable to all sports fans.
Tom Brady – Tampa Bay Buccaneers:
Despite the reports circulating that Tom Brady would hang up his cleats one last time, Brady is heading back to the NFL for what is more than likely going to be his own iteration of Michael Jordan’s famous ‘Last Dance’.
Following the retirement of his long-time teammate and the legendary tight end Rob Gronkowski, Brady’s Buccaneers will have a daunting task of reaching the Superbowl this year.
However, despite Brady now playing well into his forty’s, the ‘GOAT’ is still among the league’s elite and should still be capable of steering the Bucs back to the postseason and keep them well within Superbowl status.
After leading all QB’s in yards (5,316), touchdowns scored (43) and ranking second for a QB rating (68.1), many still question if Tom Brady ages like fine wine with statistics such as these well into his twilight years.
Justin Herbert – LA Chargers:
It seems that the four previously mentioned QB’s are a lock to be among the top ranked in the league, yet there are two major dark horses that could look to make a significant impact this season.
One such name is Russell Wilson who is now suiting up for the Denver Broncos this season after a massive trade away from Seattle, while another selection to be a potential MVP candidate is the always humble Justin Herbert from the recently relocated LA Chargers.
With LA already bolstering one championship club in the form of the Rams, the Chargers are also a viable treat as they bolster arguably the best young talent in the league in the form of Herbert who made the Pro Bowl team in just his sophomore season.
Herbert also won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2020 and is now sighted to be the future face of the league with immense on-field IQ for picking out teammates, with many already describing Herbert’s game as being among the world’s elite in just his third season at the NFL (national football league) level.
