Mahoor Bagheri, a famous Iranian singer, recently made a name for himself by reading the Turkish TV series “The Last Summer” credits. Today we want to talk to him about how to start this path.
What have been the most significant challenges of your career so far?
Mahoor Bagheri: I was making music for the “The Last Summer”, the Turkish TV show. “Kam Harf “was made for this series, which significantly promoted the music.
Who or what inspired you to take up singer-songwriter and pursue a career in music?
Mahoor Bagheri:
Vocals: Everyone who has given me feedback leads me to know what I do well.
Writing: Like my dad, I go around humming and singing nonsense tunes – his creativity comes out no matter what task he is at.
Who or what have been the most critical influences on your musical life and career?
Mahoor Bagheri: There are famous and great Iranian music artists like Mohammadreza Shajaryan, Keyhan Kalhor and … But I tried not to be content with just them and to be inspired by the successful artists of the world for the globalization of my music. This was one of the reasons I worked with a Turkish company. I needed to know the opinion of people who do not understand my language about my music. It will undoubtedly help.
Which performance/recordings are you most proud of?
Definitely “Kam Harf”. It is the perfect cross between Persian and Turkish pop. I wrote the song, sat back from my keyboard, and said, “It’s perfect.” The chords and melody variations are intricate, led by the lyrics. The vocals are demanding, constantly changing vocal registers and styles, with warm low tones and the High notes that take it to another level.
Which particular works do you think you play best?
Mahoor Bagheri: In my opinion, how a song is performed significantly impacts how the audience interacts with it. As my first experience making music for the title track of the “The Last Summer” TV show, I realized from my feedback that I did it well.
How do you make your repertoire choices from season to season?
Mahoor Bagheri: Mostly, I go with songs I love.
Do you have a favorite concert venue to perform in, and why?
Mahoor Bagheri: Not yet. But I love to perform in Iran and Turkey. Since recording my music, I have performed at many outdoor festivals, which is a bit exciting. I can’t wait to get some indoor lighting, though, for the ambiance of some of the songs.
Who are your favorite Persian musicians?
Mahoor Bagheri:
Mohammad Reza Shajaryan: He was one of the best singers in Iranian traditional music. Unfortunately, he died recently, but his works will always be an inspiration to Iranian artists.
Siavash Ghomeyshi: One of the best composers of Iranian pop music whose compositions and melodies are very enduring.
What is your most memorable concert experience?
Mahoor Bagheri: For a concert, I have attended – Chris Daughtry at the Texas State Fair this year. His vocals stayed with me for days. He sings!
As a musician, what is your definition of success?
Mahoor Bagheri: Oh, tricky question when you’re in the middle of trying to achieve so many steps. Just got to keep building the fanbase! Oh, the tricky question when you are in the middle of trying to reach all these steps. You have to keep making the fan base! To be successful, you need to know the music market well, and this is not an artist’s job. For this reason, I’m Working with a professional Company called “Iranmojavez“, which has helped me a lot to reach this level.
What do you consider to be the most important ideas and concepts to impart to aspiring musicians?
Mahoor Bagheri: Be yourself and have Patience. As my parents taught me – be humble. Thank God for every day.
Where would you like to be in 10 years?
Mahoor Bagheri: Making an album will be one of my first steps. Making music videos to convey the messages of my music better. Making music for movies and series is one of my hobbies and finally, concerts! Something I always wanted to do inside and outside Iran. Maybe a world tour to promote an album!
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Mahoor Bagheri: Spending Time with family. And make people happy.
What is your most treasured possession?
Mahoor Bagheri: Family and fans. The things I make music for.
What is your present state of mind?
Mahoor Bagheri: I’m happy that I’m getting what I’ve been working on for years. You are excited when you are on the path to your dreams! It inspires everything in me.
