Tarrytown is a village and a part of the town called Greenburgh, located in Westchester County, New York, United States. This neat little area is on the eastern bank of the famous Hudson River and only about 25 miles or 40 kilometers north of the midtown Manhattan in NY.  It also functions as a stop on the Metro-North Hudson Line.

North of Tarrytown is the “haunted” village of Sleepy Hollow, a gothic story by Washington Irving about a Headless Horseman, popularized more and more thanks to Halloween. To the south, there is the village of Irvington, while on the east side of Tarrytown, there are parts of Greenburgh. To get to Tarrytown, you must cross the Tappan Zee Bridge that goes over the Hudson. Across it, you can travel on the New York State Thruway, Interstates 87 and 287, to South Nyack, Rockland County, and Upstate New York.

At the 2010 census, the total population of this village was 11,277 people. The total area is 5.7 square miles or 15 square kilometers. Almost half of this is water, which means you can do some fun camping activities in this area.
